Friday Sew N Tell, Place Mats

Last week I decided our "dining room" table needed some revamping. The table cloth was stained and the place mats were just plain yucky. I found a picture of some quilted place mats somewhere out there in the blogosphere and was inspired to use up some of my scraps of fabric. I had a lot of yellow scraps, and then threw in some red and blues and one or two green scraps too.

Here is Charlie's:

And this one is mine:

I can't decide if we should find a new table cloth or just leave the table as it is. What do you think?

Now Charlie and I need to take etiquette lessons so we can stop eating like slobs and keep our quilted place mats clean.

Check out the Sew N Tell Finishes and have a Happy Friday!

  11. I love your placemats. They really brighten up a dining room table. I would add a plain tablecloth to make the mats not slip around. Great job!!

  14. Very cool! I'd leave them the way they are. They pop against the dark wood of your table... and a table topper is just another thing to wash :)

  20. These are great and look good on their own. Table cloths are pretty but a pain. Make fabric napkins and through them all in the wash! Nice job.

  22. Etiquette lessons - lol! Just make yourself some napkins to clean up the mess! These look great! Like the his and hers idea - you will always be able to tell who is the biggest slob! My bets are on him!
